Long time, no see

Well, at the rate I'm going -- I'll only end up with 6 or 7 blog entries before the baby gets here. LOL

Let's see what's happened in the past 3 weeks or so. On January 29th, I had my first u/s. That was the coolest thing ever!! My appointment was scheduled for 1pm, so Rob and I figured we'd grab lunch afterwards. OY. They took me back to the u/s room about 20 after 1. And then, the baby was very uncooperative. This u/s wasn't a run-of-the-mill u/s. They were trying to get the nuchal translucency measurement, which a measurement of the neck area of the baby. Well, my uncooperative and stubborn baby was tucked into a corner of my uterus and was not coming out of that corner!!

No lie -- I went thru three different technicians and two different machines/rooms before they were able to get a decent picture for the nuchal measurement. Total time spent on u/s was almost 3 hours!!! Needless to say -- our "lunch" ended up being more like "dinner."

Anyway, here are the u/s pictures. They're difficult to decipher, since the babe just looks like a blob. The darkness in the pics is my uterus. The top picture is the top of the baby's head, and the bottom picture is a side view of the baby (one side of the peanut-shape is his head, and the other is his butt).

The following day (January 30) was another pre-natal appointment with my ob-gyn. That was fairly non-eventful (as most of these appointments will be). After both of these appointments, we gave the family an all-clear that they could spread the word.

So far, everything is still going well. Still no morning sickness. ::vigorously knocks on wood still:: My fatigue is easing a bit (although I can still take a looooooooonnnnnnngggggg nap on the weekends). Not much else to report at this point.

In February 26th, I have an amniocentesis and February 27th is my next ob-gyn appointment. As part of the amnio, we are going to find out the gender of the baby. It usually takes a week or two for the results to come back, so I figure by St. Patrick's Day we will know if we're having a boy or girl. Yay!!!!
